To say the Kymatiks are a band who have hit the ground running is an understatement.
In the early part of 2019 husband and wife Gemma & Johnny Anderson got together with long term friend Wayne Martin for a jam at their home. That day, the song “Wolves of the Wild” entered the stratosphere and plans began to simmer.
During an airing of their songs in the Newton Arms open mic, they enlisted the services of Tom Burt who offered himself as bass player, shortly after Grant ‘Japo’ Mcleod signed up on the skins. From there the band began to meet regularly in Johnny and Gemma’s conservatory and began forging a sound of their own and a set of upbeat, high energy original songs.
In the short time since this band arrived on our planet they have amassed a big local following in the North East of Scotland, recorded a live EP, and by summer of 2019, had been given the primo slot at two prestigious local festivals. Since then the band have recorded their first studio album ‘Broken Rules & Happy Fools’ and are releasing a single a month throughout lockdown until live shows are back on.
Their sound is rootsy, raw and earthy though not of this earth. Their songs are the perfect blend of foot stomping energy and stirring poetry delivered with rousing chorus hooks. Their live performance embodies the band as a beautiful example of a group of humans who love their music and love to share it.
“See yiz doon the front!”
